Amazfit unveils GTS 2 mini and POP Pro smartwatches in China

After launching the Amazfit GTS 2 and GTR 2 earlier this year in October, Amazfit has now unveiled two budget-friendly smartwatches in China. As its name suggests, the new Amazfit GTS 2 mini is an affordable version of the GTS 2, which features the same square dial as the premium smartwatch but with a smaller 1.55-inch display. On the other hand, the new Amazfit POP Pro is the GPS version of the Amazfit POP from earlier this year.

As per the announcement post on Weibo (via fonearena), the Amazfit GTS 2 features a 1.55-inch (354 x 306 pixels) AMOLED display with a pixel density of 301ppi. The smartwatch features support for over 70 sports modes and activities, continuous heart rate monitoring, and in-depth sleep monitoring. In terms of sensors, it features Huami’s BioTracker 2 PPG sensor with blood oxygen level detection, an accelerometer, a gyroscope sensor, a geomagnetic sensor, and an ambient light sensor.

Furthermore, the Amazfit GTS 2 mini offers water-resistance up to 5ATM, it features Bluetooth 5.0 BLE for connectivity, GPS and GLONASS for location tracking, and NFC for payments. Much like the Amazfit GTS 2, the watch also comes with a built-in microphone to help users interact with the voice assistant but instead of Amazon’s Alexa, it features support for the Xiao AI voice assistant. Finally, the watch packs a 220mAh battery that can deliver up to 14 days of battery life on a single charge.

The Amazfit POP Pro, as mentioned earlier, is just a GPS version of the Amazfit POP that was launched earlier this year. It features a 1.43-inch TFT touch display with a resolution of 320 x 302 pixels, an optical heart rate sensor for continuous heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO2) sensor, and a 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope for activity tracking. The watch supports over 60 sports modes and it’s based on the PAI health assessment system.

Along with the fitness tracking features, the Amazfit POP Pro offers notification support, remote camera controls, weather, and music controls. The watch is also water-resistant up to 5ATM and it includes Bluetooth 5.0 BLE for connectivity. It packs a 225mAh battery which can last up to 9 days on a single charge.

Pricing & Availability

The Amazfit GTS 2 mini is priced at CNY 699 (~$106), and it’s already up for sale in China. The watch comes in three color variants — Deep Pine Green, Rose Pink, and Obsidian Black. The Amazfit POP Pro is priced at CNY 399 (~$61), and it will go on sale in China from December 10th. The watch will also be available in three color variants — Black, Green, and Pink. As of now, Amazfit has released no information about international availability but fonearena claims that the Amazfit POP Pro will soon be launched in the Indian market as the Amazfit BIP U Pro.

OnePlus 9E allegedly coming alongside the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen several leaks and rumors about OnePlus’ upcoming flagships. As per the rumors, OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 9 series in March next year, four weeks earlier than the company’s usual launch schedule, and it will include two devices — the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro. However, the latest leak about OnePlus’ upcoming flagship series suggests that the company may launch another device called the OnePlus 9E.

According to a recent Voice post from renowned OnePlus tipster Max J. (@MaxJmb), the OnePlus 9 series will feature three new devices — the regular OnePlus 9, the top-of-the-line OnePlus 9 Pro, and the OnePlus 9E. The post states:

“Everyone is talking about the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro but there is a third device no one has talked about yet. The OnePlus 9E.”

While the post doesn’t reveal any information about this alleged third device, it claims that the OnePlus 9E is a result of OnePlus’ attempt to mimic Samsung’s smartphone portfolio and offer a device at every possible price range. We have no further information about the device at the moment, and our own sources, like the ever-reliable Some_Random_Username, are yet to spot any hints of the OnePlus 9E in existing firmware. So far, we’ve only spotted evidence of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, but that might change soon if the latest leak is to be believed.

In case you’ve not been keeping up with our coverage of the OnePlus 9 series, here’s a quick rundown of all that we know about the devices so far:

  • OnePlus 9
    • It will feature the same design as the OnePlus 8T, with a  rectangular camera module on the back and a hole-punch display over at the front.
    • The device will allegedly feature a larger 6.55-inch flat AMOLED 120Hz high refresh rate panel.
    • It will likely include 3 camera sensors on the back, with two of the sensors larger in size than the third.
    • It is rumored to sport a 48MP primary camera module with a focal length of 6mm and a 48MP ultra-wide sensor.
    • It will go by the model numbers LE2110, LE2117, and LE2119.
    • It may be launched on Verizon and T-Mobile in the US.
  • OnePlus 9 Pro
    • The device will also feature the same design as the OnePlus 8T, with a much larger display and camera module.
    • It will sport a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED 120Hz high refresh rate panel with a hole punch cutout in the top left corner.
    • Unlike the OnePlus 9, the Pro variant will feature 4 camera sensors on the back, including two large sensors and two small sensors.
    • It will go by the model numbers LE2120 and LE2127.
    • It may be launched on T-Mobile in the US.
  • Both devices are expected to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 875 chip.

Huawei starts rolling out EMUI 11 stable update to the P40 series

The U.S. administration’s trade restrictions on Huawei has limited how the Chinese giant employs Android on its devices. But, that has not disturbed their schedule of incremental updates to their custom Android skin — EMUI — due every year. Back in September, Huawei introduced EMUI 11 with improvement to the user experience and privacy. Then early on in November, some users started reporting about receiving the stable EMUI 11 update on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Now, there are reports about the stable update reaching Huawei P40 and the P40 Pro smartphones.

Latest EMUI update on Huawei P40 Pro via HuaweiAilesi

The news was shared by Turkish Huawei-focusses blog HuaweiAilesi which also shared screenshots of the OTA update and changelog for the EMUI build 11.0.0.151. The update has seemingly started to roll out a few days ahead of the rollout plan. Last week, Huawei announced the EMUI 11 rollout schedule for its devices, as per which the P40 series is due for receiving the update in the month of December. At the same time, it must be noted that the update may take up to two months to reach all of the devices, so Huawei’s promptness is justified yet worth appreciating.

Among the most highlighted changes with the EMUI 11 update is the Smart Always-On-Display that allows users to choose from a number of themes and animations for the AOD. It also allows users to show any image, video, or GIF on the Always On Display. In addition, the update also brings smart multi-window functionality that allows open apps to be resized into floating windows for convenient multi-app usage and further resized and stacked into the sidebar for easy access.

EMUI 11 allows users to share their smartphones’ screen on a connected PC as well as control the app from that screen itself. Further, for privacy, EMUI 11 displays icons to notify users when an app is using the camera, microphone, or location.

Spotify is testing Artist-created Stories on Playlists

It seems that almost every platform is introducing an Instagram Stories-like feature on its app. The latest one to join the party is Spotify as it is reportedly working on a similar feature. With the holiday season approaching quickly, the music streaming giant has been updating its ‘Christmas Hits’ playlist and along with that, it is testing its own Stories feature. Certain Spotify users on Android and iOS have confirmed that a new Stories feature has popped up on the app.

The feature, in a way, works similar to how the Stories feature works on Instagram or Facebook, but there is a slight difference. It seems that these Stories can only be pinned on top of playlists and currently you can only see artists posting short clips of themselves on the corresponding playlist. For instance, the stories on the Christmas Hits playlist includes videos from artists like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez, Pentatonix, and more.

According to Engadget, Spotify has confirmed that it is currently testing this feature. “At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time,” said a Spotify spokesperson.

This doesn’t really come as a surprise since popular apps like Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and more recently, even LinkedIn include the stories feature. Spotify has not confirmed when these Stories will be made visible to all users or whether one can add them to their own playlists in the future.

Jabra Elite 85t TWS with ANC launched in India for ₹18,999

After unveiling the Elite 85t in the US and Europe earlier this year in September, Danish audio equipment manufacturer Jabra has now launched its latest TWS earbuds in the Indian market. The all-new Jabra Elite 85t feature the same semi-open design as the Elite 75t, with some minor tweaks to make the new earbuds more comfortable. But while the design isn’t all that new, Jabra has included one noteworthy feature in the latest model — active noise cancellation support.

Jabra claims that the new Elite 85t comes equipped with a dedicated ANC chip to offer “the most cutting-edge noise-cancellation technology on the market.” Jabra has updated its companion app with the new ANC feature, which now gives users access to 11 levels of controls — from full ANC to full HearThrough (Jabra’s marketing term for transparency mode).

Jabra Elite 85t with case on white background

The Jabra Elite 85t pack in 12mm drivers that offer “big sound and powerful bass” and a six microphone array (three on each ear, two on the outside, one on the inside) with improved wind noise protection for calls, along with Siri and Google Assistant support. The Elite 85t comes with oval-shaped silicone ear gels that offer a better seal and improved passive noise isolation.

The Jabra Elite 85t offers up to 5.5 hours of playback with ANC turned on and an additional 25 hours with the Qi-certified wireless charging case. With ANC turned off, the earbuds are rated for up to 31 hours of total playback. Other features include an IPX4 rating for water and sweat resistance and customizable playback controls using the Sound+ companion app.

Pricing and Availability

The Jabra Elite 85t is priced at ₹18,999 and it will be available in the Titanium Black colorway on Amazon from December 1st. Jabra plans to offer other colorways in the country by January next year.

It’s worth noting that while the Jabra Elite 75t didn’t launch with active noise cancellation support, Jabra released a firmware update earlier this year to bring the feature to the earbuds. The Elite 75t is currently available on Amazon for ₹10,999, which is ₹3,000 lower than its usual sale price of ₹13,999.

WebADB lets you run ADB right from your web browser

The Android Debug Bridge (adb) is a command-line tool that allows users to communicate with a device. With the tool, you can perform a number of actions, including installing and debugging apps, and also run commands.

Instead of installing ADB on your computer, XDA Forum Member SteelToe has released a new website (www.webadb.com) that allows users to perform all functionality provided by the tools right from your browser.

“No installation, no drivers, nothing,” SteelToe said. “All you need is a web browser that supports web USB such as Chrome or the new Microsoft Edge and you are good to go.”

The features of Web ADB include:

  • APK installation
  • Interactive shell
  • Screen recording
  • SCRCPY — Control your device from your browser
  • Device information
  • File manager
  • Enabling ADB over WiFi

If you need help installing ADB on your machine, we have a guide for that. Otherwise, if you want a less involved experience, you can use the Web ADB portal. The website has a few instructions if you run into issues, including if you get an access denied error.

Keep in mind that you would still need to enable USB Debugging on your smartphone, which is located within Developer Settings, accessed through Settings > Tapping “About Phone” seven times.

ADB is a very versatile command-line tool, especially if you deal with Android smartphones a lot. While having the utility installed on your usual machine is recommended, there can be instances when you need just a few commands in a pinch. This is when tools like Web ADB come in. With the usual ADB commands, you can install apps, copy a file or directory from the device and to the device, set up port forwarding, and more. These commands by themselves may not appear to be accomplishing all that much, but depending on what restrictions your smartphone OEM may have placed, ADB can come in quite handy with these commands to turn things around the way you would like them to be on your device.

Xiaomi Android 11 Tracker: Here are all the official MIUI beta and stable builds to download and install

Following the arrival of the first public beta of Android 11 back in June, Xiaomi published similar AOSP-style beta builds for the Mi 10/10 Pro and the Redmi K30 Pro (e.g. the Chinese variant of the POCO F2 Pro) later that month. Shortly thereafter, the Chinese OEM started rolling out MIUI 12-based closed beta builds for these phones, however, the underlying layer of Android was still based on the beta codebase. Now that Android 11 hits the stable milestone, Xiaomi has already prepared stable MIUI 12 builds on top of the latest iteration of Android.

The first batch of global devices to receive the MIUI 12-infused stable Android 11 update includes the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. Many more Mi, Redmi, and POCO branded smartphones are expected to get the update in the coming days. This article will serve as the central repository of download links for all Xiaomi devices that have received their official Android 11 updates, including the ones powered by Android One instead of MIUI.

It is worth mentioning that the MIUI versioning scheme doesn’t have a one-to-one correspondence with the version of Android. While Xiaomi is expected to unveil a new version of MIUI — tentatively MIUI 13 — with new features in the near future, the company will continue to produce MIUI 12-based Android 11 builds for compatible devices during the transition phase.

The compatible devices will initially get the taste of Android 11 through the MIUI beta channel (which has now been rebased on top of the stable Android 11 codebase), and then through the stable channel builds. Features on Xiaomi devices are often decided more by their MIUI version and less by their Android version. So you can take a look at our other trackers for MIUI 12 builds.

Xiaomi Android 11 Update List: Which phones have received the stable update?

This article covers Xiaomi (Mi), Redmi, and POCO devices that have received a stable Android 11 update—be it a “stable beta” or actual stable build—in any region. Cross-flashing different regional builds is technically possible but only do so if you’re familiar with the process.

Here are the devices that currently have an Android 11 build based on the stable Android branch available. Note that the devices are sorted alphabetically for their codename.

  1. Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro (cmi) — Added on 09/09/2020
  2. Redmi Note 9S / Redmi Note 9 Pro [India] (curtana) — Added on 11/18/2020
  3. Redmi K30 Pro / POCO F2 Pro (lmi) — Added on 09/09/2020
  4. Redmi K30 5G (picasso) — Added on 11/23/2020
  5. Xiaomi Mi 10 (umi) — Added on 09/09/2020

Generic flashing instructions are available at the bottom of this article. However, we advise users to refer to the device forums for specific flashing instructions for their device, in case there are any variations or special instructions that need to be followed. Notably, the concept of a downgrade ROM isn’t applicable here. First, check the Anti-Rollback Protection status of your model and then flash the appropriate stable Android 10-based Fastboot firmware if you need to revert back.

Flashing Instructions for Android 11-based MIUI 12

Note that these are generic flashing instructions that should generally be applicable across Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices. However, there is a possibility that there is a variation that is unique to your device, so we strongly advise visiting your device forums for device-specific instructions.

Recovery ROM Installation for Android 11-MIUI 12

Recovery ROMs come with a .zip file extension and can be installed either through the Local Update method from within MIUI, or through the recovery environment. Newer versions of the stock MIUI recovery don’t offer any option for sideloading, but you can use a custom recovery like TWRP for installing these ROMs, though do note that device-specific instructions may differ in that case.

  1. Local Update method:
    1. Transfer the download .zip file to your phone, and ensure you place the file in the “downloaded_rom” folder in the internal storage of your device. If no such folder exists, create one in your internal storage base directory.
    2. Within your phone, navigate to Settings > About Phone > System Update, and then press the three-dot icon in the top-right corner, and select “Choose Update Package”.
    3. If the “Choose Update Package” option is missing, tap on the MIUI logo 10 times to activate the option.
    4. Choose the downloaded .zip file.
    5. Wait for the update to install.
  2. Recovery method:
    1. Rename the downloaded .zip file to update.zip and transfer it to the base directory of your phone’s internal storage.
    2. Reboot your phone into recovery mode by powering it off and then pressing both the Power and the Volume Up buttons together.
    3. Scroll to the “Install update.zip” option using the volume keys, and select the option using the power button.
    4. Wait for the update to install.
    5. Choose the “Reboot” option if your phone does not reboot by itself after installation is completed.

Fastboot ROM Installation for Android 11-MIUI 12

Fastboot ROMs come with a .tgz file extension and require a Windows computer for the installation, as well as a phone with an unlocked bootloader. However, despite being comparatively more complicated to install than Recovery ROMs, Fastboot ROMs are sometimes the only way to boot into a working system. For instructions on unlocking the bootloader of your phone, check your device’s subforums on XDA.

  1. Download MiFlash Tool on your Windows computer. The latest version can be found in Step 1 of this link. Once downloaded, extract the tool and install it. It is also advisable to have ADB and Fastboot installed, just in case you need it.
  2. Reboot your phone into Download mode by powering it off and then pressing both the Power and Volume Down buttons together.
  3. Connect your phone to the computer using the appropriate USB cable.
  4. Download the Fastboot ROM .tgz file and extract it. Remember the extract location, as you will need to paste the address into MiFlash Tool.
  5. Run MiFlash Tool on your Windows Computer and in the address bar within the tool, paste the extract location from Step 4.
  6. Click “Refresh” within MiFlash and the app should automatically recognize your device.
  7. Click “Run” within MiFlash to flash the ROM file to the device.
  8. The progress bar within MiFlash will turn green, which indicates that the ROM was successfully installed. Your device should boot automatically to the new version.

Thanks to XDA Recognized Developer yshalsager for providing the download links!

The POCO F2 Pro is getting its Android 11 update with MIUI 12

Last month, POCO opened up a beta program for the POCO F2 Pro, allowing early birds to try out MIUI 12 based on Android 11 before its final release. It looks like POCO has managed to iron out nasty bugs and instabilities from the user feedback as the company has started seeding the final software to those on the stable channel.

Multiple POCO F2 Pro users report that they have received the MIUI 12 Global Stable update on their phone. The Chinese variant received its stable update earlier this month, so it was expected that the global variant would follow suit shortly.

POCO F2 Pro MIUI 12 Global Stable

The stable MIUI 12 update has already started hitting POCO F2 Pro devices globally. Since this is a phased roll-out, it might take some time for the update to reach all devices. If you haven’t received the update notification yet, you can head to Settings > About Phone > MIUI version and click on the “CHECK FOR UPDATES” button to see if it’s available for your phone. If you want, you can also sideload the update by downloading it from the link below.

Motorola launches Moto G 5G with 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 750G in India

Motorola has been on a mission to recapture the mid-range segment in the Indian smartphone market. Since last year, they have launched many competitively priced devices in the country, including the Moto G8 Plus, Motorola One Fusion+, and the Moto G9. Now the focus is one building a 5G-ready portfolio and after launching the Motorola Edge+ and the Razr 5G earlier, the company is launching a 5G mid-ranger in India, even without the availability of a 5G network. Motorola has announced the Moto G 5G in India and this is the first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 750G to be launched in this country.

The Moto G 5G comes 6.7-inch hole-punch LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution. The display has a refresh rate of 60Hz and is certified for HDR10. Inside the hole-punch cutout resides a 16MP selfie camera. On the back, the Moto G 5G features a triple camera setup in a square-shaped camera bump. These cameras include a primary 48MP camera with the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 118° wide field of view, and just like the One Macro — a 2MP macro camera with autofocus.

Unlike the global variant of the Moto G 5G that comes with 4GB RAM, the Indian variant features 6GB RAM. The storage, too, has been doubled from 64GB to 128GB especially for the Indian market. The phone packs in a 5000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging.

Software-wise, the Moto G 5G comes with a stock Android user interface with Android 10 out-of-the-box. The phone has been promised to be upgraded to Android 11 soon but the company has not made any promise for updates beyond that. Even though the Moto G 5G is not part of Google’s Android One program — like some of older Motorola devices, it features a dedicated button for Google Assistant.

Price & Availability in India

The Moto G 5G will be available in India starting December 7th for ₹20,999 (~$285) via Flipkart. HDFC card users will be able to avail an instant discount of ₹1,000 with their purchase via Flipkart.

The OnePlus 8 Pro drops another $50 at Amazon, bringing the price down to $750!

Did you pick up the OnePlus 8 Pro when it was on sale on Amazon earlier this month for $800? $200 off the powerful OnePlus flagship seemed like an unbeatable deal, and it matched the Black Friday price for the 8 Pro at OnePlus’s own site. I thought it was a great enough discount that I didn’t expect it to go lower and even picked up the Ultramarine Blue phone for myself. Well, Amazon is rewarding those who waited with an additional $50 price drop on the device, bringing the total down to $750.

Get yourself a solid flagship without breaking the bank. The black 256GB OnePlus 8 Pro is only $750 on Amazon! If you have the Prime Rewards card, you can also sign up for an 18-month, 0% APR payment plan.

In XDA’s super in-depth comparison of the OnePlus 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S20+, the 8 Pro was able to stand toe-to-toe with the Samsung flagship, and in some cases, even surpass it. With a great display and camera, it’s hard to deny the value of the 8 Pro… and now that it’s on sale, it’s even better of a choice!

If you’re not fully convinced, maybe our OnePlus 8 Pro review will help. This is one of OnePlus’s flagships that really feels like a quality flagship, instead of feeling like you’re settling with a lower quality phone. And honestly, who wants to settle for less anyway?

All of this, the reviews and comparisons, are working off the assumption that you’ll be paying the full price for the phone. So when saving $250 on this device, it’s even better! Both the Onyx Black and Ultramarine Blue phones are in stock at Amazon, and this time around, I don’t see another price drop happening before Cyber Monday ends. This additional $50 price drop was shocking enough as is!

Looking for other phone deals this weekend? We have a round-up of all of the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday smartphone deals, just for you!

Best Buy’s Tile Smart Tracker Cyber Monday sale will make sure you never lose your stuff again

I always seem to misplace my wallet. It’s a bit ridiculous, considering I picked up a brightly-colored wallet with a strap just to try to not lose the thing. Thankfully, I’m far from the only one, and the Tile smart tracker was created. Working off the same concept as a ‘find your phone’ app, tiles can be attached to non-smart objects like your keys and wallet so you can track them via Bluetooth. It’s pretty useful! For Cyber Monday, Best Buy is having a sale on the whole Tile line, so now’s your chance to pick one up.

    Tile Smart Tracker Sale
Having trouble with losing things? Tile can help! Best Buy is having a sale on the Tile line of products for Cyber Monday, so now's your chance to grab one for your wallet or keyring.

Not sure what Tile product to get? It really depends on the item you want to track. The Tile Mate is the original product, and it’s best suited for your keys. There’s a helpful hole for your keyring, and it’s also pretty small, so the Mate won’t add to the bulk. One Mater is just $18!

If you’re like me and need something to track the wallet with, though, another Tile smart tracker will be better for you–the Tile Slim. This is basically a Tile that’s credit card shaped, so it can easily slip into an empty slot. It’s also great for other important objects that have sleeves to store objects, like a passport holder.

Finally, there’s the Tile Sticker. If the Mate or the Slim doesn’t suit your needs, the Sticker is sure to solve your problems. You can easily and discreetly place a Sticker on any object you have a tendency of losing (like an umbrella, I lose those a lot), and suddenly you have an easy to track object. A four-pack is on sale for $40!

Looking for even more deals? Our Black Friday tech round-up is still very much live, featuring some of the best deals around as we head into Cyber Monday!

Samsung’s amazing Black Friday deal on the Galaxy S20 FE continues, with prices starting at just $140

If you would have told me that you could pick up the new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE for just $140, this close to its release, I wouldn’t have believed you for a second. Black Friday or not, that’s a huge discount on the already affordable flagship, and retailers aren’t going to cut things that deep for the sake of a sale.

But, well, here we are. You can get the Galaxy S20 FE for as low as $140. How do you do that? With an eligible trade-in! Basically right now, you get extra trade-in credit with any device trade-in, which is what makes this low price possible. As to be expected, though, getting the maximum discount requires specific phones for the trade-in.

    Samsung Galaxy S20 FE
You can now get a big discount on the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S20 FE by trading in your old device! If you have a Note 10 Plue or Note 10 5G, you'll get the maximum discount and be able to grab yourself this phone for just $140.

In order to knock the S20 FE all the way down to $140, you’ll need to trade in either the Galaxy Note 10 Plus or the Galaxy Note 10 5G. That’s not the biggest selection for the maximum discount, but at least you’re more likely to have a Note 10 over some other models. A lot of Google, Samsung, and Apple models also get you really great discounts too. You can also trade in literally any iOS or Android phone (that’s in good condition) for $50 off. And really, are you going to even use the old phone after grabbing the S20 FE?

The Samsung Store is also the only place that you can get the S20 FE in all six colors, including the online-only Cloud White and Cloud Orange colors! Orange is probably my favorite of the bunch, and it’s pretty hard to find that one outside of the Samsung Store. But the beauty of the phone is that there’s a nice color for everyone!

Looking for more Galaxy S20 FE deals? Check out what other retailers have to offer, or head over to our Black Friday phone deals round-up to see what other devices are on sale!

Grab a Kindle Paperwhite e-reader for just $85 for a limited time with this Black Friday deal

Some people think dedicated e-readers have fallen out of fashion. With phones being completely capable of delivering a decent reading experience, you might think that there’s really no need anymore for a separate e-reader, right? Well, there are a few use-cases where having an e-reader is better: way better battery life and just the commodity of having a dedicated device that will display your books and allow you to read them in a pinch. One of the pioneers of this concept is the Kindle, and the newer Kindle Paperwhite follows in the footsteps of those basic models, and right now, you can grab it for a mere $85, down from the usual $130 price point.

    Kindle Paperwhite
The Kindle Paperwhite provides a 6-inch e-ink panel with a 300 ppi pixel density, and also comes with waterproofing for a rugged reading experience whenever you go, which comes in handy when you consider the low $85 price point.

The Kindle Paperwhite is as basic of a device as it gets, and to its credit, it gets all of the essentials right. It has a big 6-inch display that, with its 300 ppi pixel density, is a marked improvement over the base Kindle model, which has a mere 167ppi. This means that the text will look crisp and vivid. The e-ink display is the secret sauce behind the device’s exceptional battery life. At the expense of a really low refresh rate and monochrome colors, both of which don’t matter a lot for an e-reader, you get a battery that can last for way longer than a conventional smartphone does. It has a fairly rudimentary backlight for night-time reading as well.

The device also has IPX8 waterproofing certification, meaning that it’s a rugged device that should be able to handle whatever you throw at it. Kindle Paperwhite is an amazing deal that everyone looking for a dedicated e-reader should definitely consider. It also has 8 GB of storage, which is plenty for storing all of your favorite books. It’s also markedly better than the regular Kindle, which costs $60, as it adds features such as waterproofing and a better display.

Get 30% off on the Fitbit Inspire 2 during Best Buy’s Black Friday sale

Wearables manufacturer Fitbit unveiled the budget-friendly Inspire 2 tracker earlier this year in August. The small fitness tracker features a touch-sensitive display housed within a lightweight rectangular housing, and it offers all basic fitness tracking features that you’d find on any other entry-level fitness band. Although it isn’t as advanced as some of Fitbit’s other products, the Inspire 2 is a great starting point for those who are new to fitness tracking wearables.

    Fitbit Inspire 2
The Fitbit Inspire 2 is a great entry-level fitness band that can be a great holiday gift for your friends or family. Get it for just $70 during Best Buy's Black Friday sale!

Despite its affordable price tag, the Fitbit Inspire 2 offers a bunch of useful features. These include 24/7 continuous heart rate monitoring, guided breathing sessions, menstrual cycle tracking, food logging, all-day activity tracking, sleep monitoring, step tracking, and much more. On top of that, it offers some other basic features like silent alarms, notification support, DND mode, timer, stopwatch, and even customizable clock faces. For all the fitness tracking features, the Inspire 2 includes the following sensors: a 3-axis accelerometer and an optical heart rate sensor.

Even with all these features, the Fitbit Inspire 2 offers up to 10 days of battery life on a single charge. And you can get it back up to full in just two hours with the included charging cable. The band is also water-resistant up to 50 meters, which means that you can easily wear it on your daily run without worrying about damaging it with sweat or light rain.

The Inspire 2 is usually priced at $100, which is pretty decent for the sheer amount of features it offers. But at $70 during Best Buy’s Black Friday sale, the Fitbit Inspire 2 is one of the best entry-level fitness trackers you can get right now. The sale price applies to all three color variants of the device, including Black, Desert Rose, and Lunar White. Regardless of which color you pick, you’ll get two different sized bands with each purchase. This ensures a comfortable fit no matter the size of your wrist.

Logitech G533 Wireless Gaming Headset is selling for $66 this weekend

Logitech offers some really reliable PC gaming peripherals ranging from keyboards, mice, and headsets. Now if you are looking for a high-quality headset for gaming or media consumption, then the Logitech G533 wireless is up for grabs at a reduced price on Amazon. The G533 comes with comfortable ear cups that include Logitech’s Pro-G Audio Drivers along with 7.1 DTS surround sound.

Logitech G533 7.1 Wireless Gaming Headset
The Logitech G533 7.1 wireless gaming headset is made for PC gamers who want a great audio experience along with a comfortable design.

The Logitech G533 wireless headset retails for $150 which is definitely a premium price. However, the headset is available for $66 on Amazon on the occasion of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Needless to say that stocks are going to be limited so make sure you grab one as soon as possible.

The G533 is a solid headset for gaming, especially with the 7.1 surround sound option. Do note that it does not come with an audio jack so connectivity is limited to wireless 2.4Ghz via the bundled USB dongle. This means that it is suited primarily for PC gamers. Notably, you can connect the headset to a PlayStation 4, Steam Link, or Nvidia Shield TV. It claims to offer a 15-hour battery life which is great, and the microphone comes with noise cancellation. The right ear cup also features a volume dial for precise control.

If you are looking for a headset and don’t care much about wireless connectivity, then the Razer Kraken Tournament Edition is also selling at a discounted price. This one also offers 7.1 surround sound with THX Spatial Audio and comes with a pretty useful USB audio controller. This headset includes a dedicated THX Spatial Audio button to toggle 3D surround sound, in-line volume controls, a mic mute button, and a game/chat balance button to help you tune the in-game audio and chat audio for a balanced experience. Apart from connecting to your PC, this headset can also be used with your consoles, smartphones, and tablets although you need to connect it directly, which means no 7.1 surround sound.

TCL’s 4K Android TVs are up to $300 off across size variants

TCL is participating in this Black Friday sale season by offering up to $300 off across its 4K Android TVs. The deals extend to the 50″, 55″, and 75″ TVs. Curiously, it’s the 55″ TV that is the cheapest of the lot, while the 75″ understandably brings along the most discount. Essentially, you are getting the 50″ TV for $230 instead of $350, the 55″ TV for $200 instead of $400, and the 75″ TV for $500 instead of $800. Check out all the deals at Best Buy!

TCL 50 inch 4K LED TV

The TCL 50inch 4K LED TV is a good option for those looking for a basic TV at this size, since this size is not a very popular option among OEMs. Check it out!
TCL 55 inch 4K LED TV

The TCL 55inch 4K LED TV is a good option for those looking for a basic TV, but it competes against the vast sea of options at the 55 inch front. You rightfully get the most discount.
TCL 75 inch 4K LED TV

The TCL 75inch 4K LED TV is a good option for those looking for a big TV, with a competitive price tag and features that make it worth consideration.

All three of these smart TVs are part of TCL’s 4-series of Android TVs, featuring 4K UHD resolution panels across different sizes, namely 50″, 55″, and 75″. For reasons we can’t quite comprehend, TCL is offering the middle 55″ for the lowest price, ensuring that this becomes the pick for most users. Unless you have an acute space constraint that restricts you from opting for anything above 50″, you will be getting a lower price and a better deal with the 55″ variant.

Other than the sizing, all three of these TVs have largely similar specifications and features. You get decent clarity and detail, as well as access to the familiar repository of Android TV apps ad support for Google Assistant and Chromecast built-in. The TCL 4K Android TV within the 4 series also offers HDR support for enhanced clarity and detail across compatible content. These also come with a voice remote, 3x HDMI ports (1x ARC), and dual-band Wi-Fi and Ethernet support.

Keep in mind that these TVs are not the best options around if you intend to game heavily with the Xbox Series X or the Sony Playstation 5. For these new consoles, you need a TV with HDMI 2.1 that can deliver 4K 120fps gameplay, which these TVs cannot. However, this support comes at a price premium, so do assess if your budget can accommodate the same. Our top pick for gaming use is the Sony Bravia X900H, which you can snag up for $1000 during this Black Friday sale season.

The Hisense 65″ 4K LED Android TV can be yours for just $250!

Looking to upgrade your TV but don’t have that high of a budget? Hisense has sensed your needs. The Hisense 65″ 4K LED Smart Android TV is on sale this Black Friday, and Best Buy is giving you the opportunity to own this big TV for just $250, a good 50% off the usual $500 selling price!

Hisense 65 4K LED Android TV
The Hisense Smart Android TV is a great option for those on a tight budget, offering a no-frills experience at a price that is hard to match this sale season!

The Hisense 65″ 4K LED TV is your standard Android TV. There aren’t too many bells and whistles to it, and that’s precisely what makes it so great. Because the TV focuses on providing a great viewing experience on a budget, it manages to achieve this goal without any distractions along the way. With this TV, you get a 4K panel with HDR (as well as HDR 10, Dolby Vision, HLG) on a 65″ screen diagonal. The frame rate on the TV is 60Hz, so don’t expect to enjoy the 4K 120fps gaming experience from the likes of the Xbox Series X and the Sony Playstation 5. But that’s alright, since TVs that do offer those, like the Sony Bravia X900H, are available for at least $1000 after a discount. This TV, on the other hand, is a quarter of that price, making it perfect for those use cases that do not involve frequent gaming.

With the HiSense 65″ 4K LED Android TV, you get the standard set of features such as Bluetooth audio connectivity, Google Assistant capabilities, built-in Chromecast, and more. As long as you know what you are getting at this price, you will not be disappointed with your purchase. If you have the budget to splurge, the aforementioned Sony Bravia X900H is a great choice thanks to HDMI 2.1, and if you can afford to go even higher, the Sony Bravia A8H lets you venture into the world of OLED Android TVs, though at a rightful premium. And if you want to go big, Samsung has something in store for you, too.
