How to Enable the Front Earpiece on the LG G6 for Dual Speaker Audio Playback

The LG G6 was the first major smartphone to hit the scene with a 18:9 aspect ratio, and while the Galaxy S8 may best it in a few different areas, the G6 still offers a whole lot to love. The tall and narrow Quad HD display looks great, the Snapdragon 821 and 4GB of RAM provide for plenty of power, and the dual-camera setup with the wide angle lens add a lot of great functionality.

However, something that’s not so hot on the G6 is its downward-facing speaker. It gets decently loud and does the job for watching YouTube videos and listening to a few songs here and there, but a new mod for the phone allows you to enable the earpiece for media output as well.

The mod comes by way of XDA Senior Member nima0003and once you follow the simple three-step process, you’ll be able to use both the earpiece and main speaker simultaneously for a much louder and richer audio experience.

You’ll need your G6 to be rooted in order for this to work, but assuming your device already is, simply rename, “mixer_paths_tasha.xml” to, “mixer_paths_tasha.xml.bak”, download nima0003′XML file, paste it into system/etc within your G6, and you should be good to go.
